Maybe when things slow down, I’d hope dr Zelenko would go through the records and try deriving from them info that would make them more comparable to other data. As of now, no answers. This is really the center of the problem. Traditionally, Medical establishment and the FDA insist on good quality, properly designed, supervised and executed studies. The issue is that it will take a long time. Another issue, IMO, is that for some reason whatever studies they do conduct, seem centered on hospitalized and ICU patients - on very sick people. The belief of many, including Zelenko, is that this isn’t the correct approach. They find that HCQ works best in the early stages of CoViD. It appears to help prevent the need for hospitalization... in the first place. Doesn’t work as well once the disease becomes very bad. What we need are HCQ studies in an outpatient setting - when patients first present to seek medical help. I think it could be done in one - or preferably, a few - triage type clinics, or ER’s, where patients are first examined. Those who are diagnosed with CoViD (test takes a few minutes) - but do NOT need to be in a hospital, could be offered to participate in the study. They would be randomized into a placebo group - and the protocol group. The later would receive a protocol along the same lines as Zelenko’s. Follow up and retest in about 10 days - which group does better. At the same time, members of the families of those patients could participate in a study of a post-exposure prevention protocol, which could be extremely valuable. Within a few weeks we would have important data. But, it’s not happening. Eventually, someone will think of it and do the study, either in the US or some other country. It’s just too necessary. It will happen. Zelenko’s philosophy on this is that of a clinician in the trenches. He thinks it’s wartime medicine (he actually said this in an interview). People are dying - and they need help. No time to wait for super duper academicians. Eventually, they will all get on the same page.
