We have gone round and round about education and smartness-lol.

But I think I know how to make my argument clear about the role of education in making people smart.

IQ's as tested on the Stanford Binet have risen every generation since 1916. When one compares how people did on the test in 1916 and how they do today it is very revealing.

In 1916 or thereabouts, our ancestors had about a 70 IQ based on how many answers they got correct. Borderline mentally retarded.

But compared to them, today's kids are operating at about 130 IQ, based on how many questions they got right, borderline gifted. And Flynn points out the improvement was profound and dramatic.

What do you think caused that rise??

James Flynn says it is education, and has changed our minds dramatically.
