It is profound in that it shows clearly societies would be smart to allocate HUGE amounts for education and for sure we should have FREE education for pre school though a PHD. Take a look at how profound it is. James Flynn says we have increased our collective IQ"s by 60 points in the last 100 years through education. Now, my guess, is that most of that increase is due simply to most people today getting a K through 12 education i.e. making sure most people got a basic education, which means learning how to think. The more one studies, the better they will get at engaging logic. . So how profound is it? Well, Flynn says before 1900 or so, when people had very little education, they were operating at about a 70 IQ, borderline mentally retarded, and in relation to them today, the kids are operating at about 130 IQ. Imagine, a person who never went to school. It appears the base line for humans without significant education is about a 70 IQ. But by simply getting a good education, the average person, can raise that to about 130 IQ and become sort of gifted. And imagine how much better any society would function with a gifted population? They wouldn't elect a Trump or so many Republicans-lol. And if one wants to see this in action, one can study South Korea, Japan, Taiwan , or Singapore, four of the most educated countries in the world. Just go to youtube and look at their covid 19 response or South Korea's spectacular 2018 Olympics opening ceremony. PS, education, any education e.g. self taught, is as necessary as exercise, and will produce the same positive results. Today people are self educating greatly and we can see the effects around the world as things like sexism, homophobia, racism, etc are on the decline. cheers A 2017 survey of 75 experts in the field of intelligence research suggested four key causes of the Flynn effect : Better health, better nutrition, more and better education, and rising standards of living. Genetic changes were seen as not important.google.com cheers
