Seasonal flu has varied from 20K deaths to as much as 90K deaths for an average of around 55K deaths per year. COVID has so far killed around 35K in the US and we are past the midpoint. Double that to get to the end and we'll be at 70K deaths. That's within the range of the seasonal flu death rates. We have never shut down our country for the seasonal flu. This is not trivializing anything. It is using logic and math. Anyone who is engaging in mass hysteria over COVID and ignoring the math is trivializing the impact to the 22 million people we've already put out of jobs and the 20-30 million more who will most certainly lose their jobs in the next 4 weeks. We have committed a crime in shutting our country down. Poverty kills and we've just signed the death warrants to hundreds of thousands to ostensibly save tens of thousands of people who are elderly, obese, or have heart or lung pre-existing conditions. The trade off was too expensive in terms of human misery and lives. It was a mistake. Re-open NOW and never do this again.
