Read Replies (2) | Respond to of 217561 Dr Wu Lien-Teh pioneered masks to avoid infection 110 years ago in ManchuFlu. Slow learners in the 21st century WuFlu have not figured out that air filtration helps a lot. I guess as the bodies stack up they will figure out that the 5% mortality rate is an order of magnitude worse than garden variety flu. Lots of people are innumerate and believe the minimizing blandishments. The idea of herd immunity as a strategy is not a strategy. That's how chimpanzees think = they don't. Herd immunity is the natural process without applied intelligence. Humans can apply intelligence. Though I admit not many can. 110 years ago Dr Wu LienTeh pointed out that the simple act of wearing a good filtering breathing mask would help stop the chain reaction. Incidentally my uncle was born there in 1911 and mother in 1915. I never heard of that flu. Fortunately for me their parents avoided death. In Taiwan, Japan, China, Singapore, Hong Kong and just down the road from Dalian in South Korea people have figured it out and uniformly wear masks and few are being infected and dying. Meanwhile, the half witted "free" world cowers in place and has not yet learned that breathing protection is a great idea. The idiots are protesting lockdown in crowds without masks. Almost nobody in New Zealand wear masks. The government in NZ, I kid you not, advises people to "cough into your elbow". Even now they are not suggesting masks as a good thing. The idea of coughing into your elbow is intended to avoid getting virus on hands and spreading it. Insane but true. In the harsh, merciless, cruel world of evolution and natural selection, the dead will mainly be the stupid who did not protect themselves. So it will enhance the gene pool. In the 21st century it would be nice to depend less on such nasty process but c'est la vie. Mqurice
