Not really. When you go the the link below and sort down by deaths/1M, you'll find that Sweden is nowhere near the top. There are plenty of countries with a higher death rate per million, which did lock down. So locking down doesn't seem to have done anything for those countries. They might as well have followed Sweden's lead and at least kept their economies alive.
