I will just add this to the previous post: China's semiconductor companies have been "on schedule" only by continually revising their schedules.

Hmmm, other than SIMO and Phison, who is a controller chip supplier?

I wonder if China has any internal NAND controller makers? Probably, but I've never heard of them.

YMTC’s production capacity is projected to occupy about 8% of the total NAND Flash output in 2021


Wow. That's a lot of new capacity. SIMO says they expect their market share of client SSD to go from ~33% to 40% over the next few years. Maybe one reason is they expect to get all of this new capacity from YMTC, that would make sense.
