I think the numbers are so ugly, it is not an exaggeration to call it "The Greatest Depression". This is worse than 1929, because back then, businesses were still running, but credit and a lot of capital was wiped out. But people still bought and sold things and services. Now? We don't have a downturn. We have an economic cessation going on right now. As I've said, this economic catastrophe was a great big giant mistake. It should never have been done. As to Hillary running things better, I doubt it. She proved that she didn't know how to run a campaign and was terrible with money. She spent far more money than Trump and still lost. Hillary still would have shut down the economy, but she would have not been able to think big enough to do all the things necessary to turn things back around. So we would have been stuck in another moribund economic recovery, as we were with Obama, before Trump took over. In addition, Hillary would have been too PC to hold China accountable for their malign actions. You can bet Trump will both get this economy turned around and will hold China accountable. Both are very important for us to do. Either way, Hillary would have shut the economy down, just like Trump did. I disagree with that course of action. If it had been me, I would have done something closer to what Taiwan did. It would have been nuanced and localized with an emphasis on advisories on sequestration and isolation of the most vulnerable, while continuing to understand that governments should not infantilize their population and that the government doesn't have the right to incarcerate innocent adults and those adults have the right to make their own decisions. Our economy would have remained robust and we'd have had herd immunity by Fall 2020. It might have been worse early on, but it would have been a larger 1st wave followed by a much smaller 2nd wave, but we wouldn't have killed a bunch of incremental people from poverty related ailments. Instead, because of this over-protective shutdown that liberals and conservatives alike called for, we're going to have a triple hump event. 1st wave will complete in a month or so, followed by a 2nd wave of equal or worse proportions in the Fall since there will be limited herd immunity, followed by countless hundreds of thousands of poverty related deaths that no one will ever ascribe to the actions we are taking today, but nevertheless, will be a direct result of this shutdown.
