He spent every year of his life until he went to karate class tearfully fending off the sobriquet of Herbie Pinkus. Strange feller. He was of Sudeten German descent (German from western Checho..Czeko..Czecko..anyway that place...) and any time anybody would mention the Nazis he would go into this tirade that it really wasn't the Germans that did it, it was the Nazis (I one time gave a report in history class about the Treblinka concentration camp and he was apoplectic). This is the sort of reaction you tend to get from someone whose father was in the Waffen SS. And I think he became a pipe fitter.
