I agree, as I usually do with your posts.

One would think that is common sense. But this country has had a much harder time getting away from primitive myths than most western democracies which has put us way behind them. The evangelicals are the base of the Republican party and are not friends of modern humanitarian and scientific thought, and so it has been harder for us to build a modern humanitarian society like the Nordic countries.

When the south started abandoning the Democratic party 50 odd years ago, and electing a monolithic right wing group of Republicans, mostly in the south and rural America, they also gained control of several presidencies and congress. And those right wing Republicans have been a drag on social progress for the last 50 years as Michael Lewis points out.

And most people see myths as necessary, or at worst harmless, even if they don't believe them, but research shows when children are taught things that are not true, they have trouble with reality later in life.

And when a society is built on myths that is like having a foundation built on clay.

I have gotten some push back on my claim that the Republican party is the "stupid" party, but those folks are not seeing things clearly, IMO.

When about 90% of Republicans support Trump, that is pretty stupid, and a way in which one can see their stupidity clearly is simply to take a close look at the news most watch each day, FOX.

FOX is a conglomerate of the most crazy fucks in the country: Lou Dobbs, Hannity, Laura Ingraham, Tucker Carlson, Jeanine Pirro, Stuart Varney, FOX and friends, The five, Greg Gutfeld and on and on.

The vast majority of FOX is not only dumb as posts, they are mad Hatter's and yet, FOX has been the official Republican party's philosopher's porch for decades!! It is where Trump and the Republicans get most of their ideas.

So it has been for a long time, and the thought people like them having war powers, and Trump, with the nuclear codes and the authority to start wars, should make the hair on the back of one's necks stand up

cheers

<,

I see the two steps forward as liberalism and the one step back as conservatism. Virtually all out tech companies were created by and run by liberals. 91% of the Fortune 500 support transgener rights.

"As of last year, 91% of Fortune 500 companies have explicit gender identity nondiscrimination protections in their company policies, up a staggering 88% from HRC’s first CEI survey in 2002. In total, 98% of the companies HRC investigated offer similar protections for trans employees, up from just 5% in 2002."

We (liberals) always win. It only takes time.

I think one of the better things that can happen is people walking away from religion. Is it just a coincidence that our religion tend to be based almost entirely on which country we're born in? The (fake) Christians who hate Muslims wouldn't hate them if they were born in a Muslim country. They also wouldn't hate immigrants if they were born in countries that were devastated by poverty.
