Offers Library for Accurate Designs and Documentation of Local, Wide Area
And Telecommunications Networks

WASHINGTON, Jan. 27 /PRNewswire/ -- Visio Corp. (NASDAQ:VSIO) today
announced the availability of the Visio(R) Network Equipment version 97.4,
including over 1,000 additional hardware device shapes and enhanced features
to facilitate network design. This version update, combined with Visio
Professional, offers an affordable network solution that is easy to implement
and extensible for use with other network management tools. Visio will
demonstrate Visio Network Equipment at its booth (No. 348) during the ComNet
'98 Exhibition in Washington, D.C., Jan. 27-29.
"Our strong relationships with hardware manufacturers ensure a constant
supply of the latest product updates for inclusion in Visio Network
Equipment," said John Rigas, director of Visio network solutions. "Customers
who purchase our Subscription Service can similarly benefit from automatic
delivery of this new content for creating high-quality network designs and
satisfying their varying documentation needs."
"As we continue our rapid pace of high-performance networking product
development to build networks that last, our partnership with Visio enables us
to provide timely and accurate network designs in our proposals," said FORE
Systems' Pat Dornan, system engineer. "We use Visio Network Equipment in
conjunction with Visio Professional to help plan migration paths from current
legacy networks to emerging technologies. Visio Network Equipment's extensive
shape collection enables us to provide comprehensive real-world solutions and
periodic updates to ensure that we produce customer-ready solutions."

New Features Ease Network Design
This updated version of Visio Network Equipment includes content
representing the latest hardware equipment from major manufacturers such as

Ascend Communications Inc., Bay Networks Inc., FORE Systems, Newbridge
Networks Corp. and Xylan Corp. Product lines from manufacturers such as Lucent
Technologies Inc., Osicom Technologies Inc., Toshiba International Corp. and
Wandel & Goltermann Inc. also have been added. Other improvements in Visio
Network Equipment version 97.4 include the following:

* The ability to rotate shapes. Shape rotation allows a single device
module SmartShapes(R) symbol to fit into either a horizontal or vertical
chassis shape.
* Improved shape custom properties. Shapes are now associated with
enhanced custom property information, allowing more than 30 pieces of
information to be maintained and reported on within six categories such as
equipment, maintenance, workstation and network.
* Named connection points. This is useful for consistent reference to a
particular slot position on a chassis and for creating automated solutions
with Visio software using Microsoft Visual Basic for Applications.
* Long file names. This capability allows for easy file identification.
The Visio Network Equipment shapes catalog, posted on the Visio Web site at
visio.com, lists total shapes
currently available and those scheduled for release next quarter.
