OR,

you take the numbers for what they are worth that are fed to you at the moment. As a technical person, I'm surprised you aren't more willing to question those numbers. But, whatever.

As a Design Verification Engineer I'd expect you would want to find your own answers rather than just take the words of the Design Engineer.

That Stanford study, for instance, is being disputed by statisticians who say it's an example of how NOT to do statistics:

The USC study was more random so stats guys can't refute it as much. It confirms the Standford results.
