In the short run Sweden's resisting the lock-down almost certainly resulted in more deaths. If their theory of herd immunity works out then there might not be more death in the longer run. But it will be awhile before we can possibly be sure, and we may never be perfectly sure. A lot of people probably think they are sure already but with a new disease, and also entirely new ways of trying to react to them, even the most skilled experts are just making educated guesses.
