I'm seeing this... just don't have an explanation. I do see an overall context in which the markets continue to "settle down" after the events from the peak on Feb 24th to the recent bottom(s) (?) in March and early April. Variation exists, of course, in different sectors, so oil producers trade differently now than midstream or services... with those all different than the broad indexes... etc. Also seen as trading in the gold miners being different than than the trade in gold itself... that also somewhat a time function... the absolute value of gold varying differently than the miners share prices... which mostly require a positive real number in price now, with a generally optimistic view of future prices that enable future profitability... So, what I ran across today... Looking at the various gold related tickers... avoiding individual stocks... looking for trends. So, considering ETF and ETN vehicles... looking at trends. NUGT and JNUG are 2x gold longs with different focus in the shares they address... and vastly different performance. But, what's the gold price background doing in supporting them, or not ? UGLD and DGLD are a 2x leveraged trading pair... so comparisons tell you something about the market. Using DGP 2x long gold and DZZ 2X short gold... instead ? What's up with that ? DGP is tracking the others in the market... but DZZ... is WAY outside the norm in relation to all the others ? Why is DZZ seeing a huge spike in volume... and price ? None of the other short gold funds are doing that ? The only related items in the news I found was touting more or less the opposite ? Ahrens Investment Partners LLC Buys DB Gold Double Long ETN due February 15 2038 So, a lot of smart guys here... Opinions ? What's the trade ? Both "what's the driver of the trade others are making in DZZ" (and not DGP apparently) and "what does that trade mean in relation to the media claims, or OTHER gold and gold related issues" ?
