>> A collection of anecdotes is not a study. That's why I poked fun at your term. Scattered observations that have been reported about hydroxychloroquine effects are anecdotal, not studies. They were so labeled and dismissed by Dr Fauci.

I didn't make any such suggestion. The VA "study" was also anecdotal.

I don't feel compelled to start an argument with you about this, but anecdotal evidence is generally the basis for a hypothesis which is then subjected to testing under the Scientific Method. That isn't the only process but it is a typical one. This is how the indiscriminate use of radical mastectomy was overcome by the anecdotally equivalent results of lumpectomy (this example being the most egregious mis-step in medicine I can think of based on the Scientific Method in modern times).

There absolutely have been a number of "studies" on this drug used in connection with various others. The Chinese conducted numerous such studies, including a small clinical trial that was analytically serious (which the paper from VA was not).

I believe a highly competent anecdotal study exists that is far more powerful than the VA study, although it is not yet available as a paper. Hopefully it will be.

A collection of anecdotes may lead to a study but are not a study.

Correct. He and I have argued about this for years. My position has been that anecdotal results and small studies gives you some idea of where to look. He has consistently rejected anything short of a large scale, fully reviewed and vetted study.

Until now.
