Gqc.v - about the time I returned from the DR....maybe late Dec or early Jan when you made it your contest pick. The small north coast town I base out of was being over run. Most of the small bars restaurants etc. had been removed and three giant Wallmart sized Chinese Super junk stores opened all Chinese staff. Not quite the same ambience and big job killer for the locals. Now things are really dire with Covid. They are under lock down and no tourists but a friend of mine over there sent me video showing big mass protests happening over food. Yeah LC got it with his driving stats. If you cannot drive the Dominican way better get a good local driver that knows his way around. I think here we call their style ...”balls to the wall with no fear and no rules “ Big penalties if caught with even minor drugs so I do not see much also I am at the age where I feel there is nothing to see after 10pm so usually back at my room. But have heard too that it is a distribution point for the big shipments. With tourism likely being a slow return and lots of expats now leaving as things become more shaky I expect the focus of the gov. will be some of the mining projects like GQC. Huge revenue for the government and jobs was the all inclusive resorts( over indulge till you drop resorts). Not sure if that model ever fully comes back as it relies not only on crowded resorts but crowded charter flights to get The people there.
