If he thinks he is so right about HCQ, why is he getting so worked up about adding disinfectants and light to the mix?
Different treatments are required at different stages of the disease. HCQ and zinc work best at the early stages of the disease. Also not all people react the same to all treatments.

why is he getting so worked up about...

What I see is that Trump has a particular set of expectations that isn't being met... and that is causing enormous frustration on his part.

That you see him trying to innovate solutions to the problem of the coronavirus... is a really good thing... mostly.

But, of course, Trump is neither a scientist, nor a doctor... and he's not the guy you want to be out there innovating...

What he is showing... is that he's properly open to suggestion... and distrustful of the established dictat.

He's not wrong... that the cadre of idiots surrounding him are failing us by not innovating. Rather, they are telling us... you just have to wait, while we're all still being held at risk, until the machinery we designed using the concepts we inherited from prior centuries... grind slowly toward some recognition that is in fact impeded by the machinery we've designed to do the grinding... and the bureaucracy we've imposed to manage it.

The ongoing conversation here... about thinking and not thinking... as that connects to creativity ? That entire set relates to innovation... and has an opposite... that isn't about the functions or the balances between "thinking and not thinking"... but is instead about "adherence to the bureaucratic social structure imposed as a limit on thinking and not thinking"... that prevents both... and prevents innovation succeeding.

Reality is... the systems we have are primarily intended to defend the hierarchy they've created... they are not intended to optimize the search for solutions... but to ensure the same people remain in charge no matter what might be discovered, and no matter what might be the cost of impeding a better idea.

Trump has formed various coronavirus response committees... with which the "experts" are perfectly comfortable... because, whether they are efficient, or not, they actually aggrandize the hierarchy... ? They get to occupy space on TV for hours a day ?

Where this SHOULD lead... is to a recognition of the above... by Trump... in which he recognizes the hierarchy as an DEDICATED obstacle to innovation.... which he's now experienced himself...

They're clearly aligned in opposition to Trump in regard to fostering innovation... perceiving that as a threat to the status quo and their own status.

When Trump understands that "its not just him" they're opposing... he might comprehend that ALL the innovators out there... including those who are scientists and doctors with the skills to get er done... are encountering exactly the same resistance, for the same reasons...

And that's harming us.

Then, perhaps, he'll understand his optimized participation isn't in standing against them in those specific instances himself ... but in recognizing the deleterious impact of their similarly obstructing and not enabling others in succeeding in that set of tasks in innovation that are required...

When you see Trump breaking the rules... not by demonstrating his acceptance of an alternative process in thinking, or by advocating his own innovations... but by obliterating the obstacles that all the other innovators face... that's when we'll be on a short path to solving the problems the virus poses now... in large part because state driven apparatus and self interested bureaucracy... abhor innovation... and ALWAYS see innovators as posing a threat to their positions. Then, of course, you can layer in the element of $ and its flows... recognizing the $ sent to the WHO was pissed down a rat hole, accomplishing the opposite of the reason it was sent...

So, Trump should establish a committee on innovation in the medical arts... tasking them to threaten the establishment in far more meaningful ways than Trump's own inputs could...

Task them to rethink the obstacles... to ensure they're not structured for preventing success... etc.

The opposition to Trump's inputs... grows out of the recognition that his interest in innovation is a threat to them... That has them doing stupid stuff... like leaving zinc out of HCQ trials... to prove Trump wrong... knowingly doing harm in the process ?

To end that... you have to convert the virtual threat of Trump's displeasure with their performance... into an overt threat that forces them to respond with competition that is focused positively... on performance... instead of negatively... on tearing down the source of opposition they recognize.

So I'm not critical of Trump's efforts... they show him understanding the problem at a gut level and acting... they're just not yet showing him having completed the loop in thinking... in the way we're considering broadly as "thinking an not thinking"... as the path to creative solutions.
