is Noosphere a word ? HA HA... NOW you know how polvie feels when he tries to follow the complexities of your posts. you've hit the google wall. not even your extremely high capacity for complexity can KNOW everything. google's database holds more data than even YOUR complex brain's hard drive. i don't feel so alone in my ignorance anymore. :-)) not only is noosphere a word, it's a legitimate philosophical concept in the scientific study of <insert something very complex here>. so you have had "spats" with the grayst one too, eh? is there anyone on SI you have not yet had "spats" with? <VBG> you always seem to find a way to resolution... sometimes the path is through juxtaposing your own vantage point with theirs and seeing a whole different world... a simpler one... even though that runs contrary to the questionable notion that the more complex the understanding is, the closer it lies to the ultimate truth (small "t"). i like to watch... and to simplify... because i can't remember stuff anymore. it'll happen to you too... constant inflow of information will eventually pit even the sharpest of human minds up against the WALL... the google wall. i'll see you on wiki governance when we get it up and running. <g> can we cheat and recruit "watson" from IBM to join us? if we don't start using A.I. for benevolent purposes we could get trampled by those using it for selfish malevolence. we need you to keep working on that golden algorithm for A.I. to keep it from falling into enemy hands in the war on immorality. ;-) (note the bolding on the winky thingy). you can be the complicator and i'll be the simpleton. we'll make a great team. we'll still be despicable, but not immorally so. we'll play sorta NICE... or at least FUN.
