The pandemic bill Trump and Mnuchin negotiated has built-in incentives to discourage people from breaking quarantine before June by paying them more in unemployment benefits than they would by breaking quarantine and returning to work.

Those employees covered by Trump's PPP (Payroll Protection Programme) instead continue to receive their salary from their employers during the quarantine period and the Republican Communist loan to their employers becomes a gift from the State if they reain these workers through the Presidential Election.

It is ridiculous to think that most unemployed people won't look for a job simply because they are getting more than expected out of unemployment compensation. Taking a low paying job may mean the difference between just making money out of desperation and potentially sacrificing an opportunity to secure more a lucrative income. The concept that somehow anyone on unemployment is happy to have a "free check" is simply false. Are there some fools out there who are happy to get any money, sure. Especially in the face of no jobs at all during the shelter in place period. Not to mention those who were self employed, who simply want the economy to open back up so they can attempt to rebuild their businesses. NOTE - below - low-wage positions. Who in their right mind wants a low paying job? Only people with no skills or no prospects. Believe me, most will do whatever they can to survive.

Is this how the US economy should rebuild? Forcing people with strong skill sets to take a low paying job, simply because the only jobs available are low paying?

My view - who ever wrote that needs to get a clue....!!!

Then there are New York’s unemployment benefits...earning more from unemployment benefits than their previous jobs, giving them little incentive to apply for the glut of new low-wage positions.
