I kept aquariums and bred fish as a kid...

Have a lot of experience in ag research... have built and managed my own greenhouses and various types of plant shelters, cloches, etc. over the years.

But I haven't ever kept terrariums...

Appreciate the input on the nature of the potential in the risks...

Will have to think about that...

I'd think a healthy soil microbiota, like that in a potted plant, will tend to be self sustaining... as long as you don't kill it with too much water... ?

You get one mechanism in balance with a potted indoor plant you water when required... and another when you create a more tightly closed system ?
