I'm not big on the perfection thing...

It is another form of romanticization...

I'd say the belief in, much less the expectation of, perfection in others is in itself an imperfection.

The iconic version of that in popular culture, I suppose, is the cliche of the ideal but unattainable woman placed on a pedestal... who fails the ideal in being attained... perhaps best presented by Dudley Moore and Bo Derek in "10"...

When it is imposed on others, as an requisite in expectation of leaders... it is far worse than that ?

Dangerous... when built into a false construct used in fostering a cult of personality... as fostering the conceit behind the fraud of monarchy... or as the Pharoah's pretense to divinity... or also as seen in modern times in Stalin, or Saddam Hussein... Is Kim Jong Ill ? Or, is it Un Kim Jong ? The same stupidity apparent in Xi's attempted construct of a similar cult of personality... somewhat harder to sustain when the Pooh Bear thing is what dominates people's perception.

Seeking perfection in others... when "good enough" is a still distant and un-attained goal... is also just a conceit... only another in which tolerance of that conceit is also extremely dangerous in politics... as it facilitates the "social capital" version of the fraud exposed in the
South Park Underpants Gnomes Profit Plan

Extended Version

The Gnomes errors are fairly benign... but others... while presenting the idealized goal as a lure, use it as a justification for all sorts of insanity that is justified and enabled in the actionable steps ? Remember Hitler ?

Poor misunderstood guy... he was only another seeker... seeking his version of perfection ?

That's still not dissing the value of the ideal ? Or the idea of perfection as an aspiration... or a source of inspiration ?

I'm not objecting to any individual for seeking to enable some greater perfection in ones self, or in one's own efforts, in a product or a performance ? Hilter, failing in getting remotely close to it as an artist himself... discovered the error, and opted instead of seeking it in himself or his work, to dupe others with the illusion of its attainability by other means ?

Nor an I dismissing the accomplishments of those individuals who come close ?

If you've never seen Michangelo's David ? Snarky and jaded millennial's view of Why You Shouldn't.

But, what happens in politics tends to be the opposite:

Offering the unattainable as a guarantee in an appeal... in lieu of basic realism focused on the fact that "good enough" isn't happening now... ignoring that what you're being offered in perfection in some illusory goal, without realistic means of attaining it... isn't getting you any closer to "better" never mind "good enough" ?

That is why it goes without saying that a crotch-grabber, for example, has not only no ability, but also no chance of solving a problem...

What a load of crap that is...

People with imperfections... are incapable of any accomplishment ?

Therefore... no one is capable of anything ? Except for your magical heroes ? Who are perfect ?

And the people you support... are capable... are perfect... only because you choose to ignore... be ignorant... of their imperfections ?

The misuse of the subjective ideal as a faux perfectionism... employing it as a distraction from basic realism... is no where made more obvious as a dangerous delusion.

That's exactly the thinking that REPEATEDLY leads the left into committing mass murder in the name of "social betterment"...
