Interesting. I think to me--- it shows the conversation-- as described is highly unlikely. Someone did not tip over a beaker or were working with a jar of glow in the dark "world ender" as in a cartoon. The supplied air super suits etc that you seen in some areas of BSL for are their because of the possibility of airborne transmission, but that transmission would have to happen from animals where the virus is being passed through. said animal passage does not make the virus contagious to humans automatically. it only makes it contagious to the mammal models they are working with. As such even if the ferret was taken home as a pet and infected patient zero (very unlikely according to said article). You couldn't even prove it if you wanted. So the science pretty much puts to sleep everything except the possibility we're going to hack into their magic trove of emails and find something that has some irrefutable measure of deniability. In practice-- you have a jump from a lab animal to a human who was asymptomatic, or maybe worked at the lab but patient zero is ? and unless lab manager and patient zero left a paper trail,,, and there is no reason to think they would have-- Not bloody likely we will ever be able to prove anything for certain.
