Hi, Hutch...Dines always talks about gold, and mostly t'hear himself talk.

RE: Canada...
I think currency wise...they are as unhappy being attached at the Nafta Navel to US, exchange rate wise as Mexico is happy about NAFTA.

You see, BOC doesn't want to appear influenced by our FED RESERVE in the eyes of the global players...so they don't react "quickly" to our changes in Fed Policy.

With our own troubles, what had begun as a Fed Tightening to reign in our growth, has instead flipflopped to an "asymetrical bias toward easing"...or fedspeak for a lowering of rates. So, instead of GreenExpand doing it, our Bond Market has done it for him.

BOC,
who had hoped to raise rates to support their currency almost 120 days ago,
now is facing currency crunch in order to export their fine goods...thereby taking appropriate competitive advantage of our being hogtied in this respect.
Canada has oooooooodles of Cattle/Hogs/Grain and Gold to export, and the world can't afford to buy ours with our strong dollar.

So Dines is being cute in my opinion,
and protectionist tarring and feathering the best chance the BOC has had in years,
to really stick it to us, export-wise,
like they did back in the 70's when I was a farmer and worried about such export of grains and livestock things.

It isn't wrong for Canada to benefit from our STRONG DOLLAR woes!
Afterall,
they are competeing against other weak currencies, such as Brazils, Spains, UK, Russia, China, etc...all who have grain/livestock and gold to sell this season...

I mean...
what fun's Capitalism if only the US gets to win all the time???
