A while ago, there is a post about optical storage market analysis in this thread. I lost the link already but you can look it up. DVD will be for the home theater. DVD is a general purpose storage technology which is low-cost, reliable, efficient and apply to both PC and home electronic market. In the long run (a very long one), both consumer and PC DVD technology will converge. This is why Japanese recently seriously take steps in PC market but so far the road is very rocky for them. aC
