It is true that things like slavery, segregation, racism, sexism, and homophobia still exist, but they are NOT :institutionalized and that is a HUGE difference. Institutional slavery is gone all around the world and segregation is pretty much gone and women have pretty much an equal ability to an education today in much of the world, for the first time ever in history and that total freedom is less than 100 years old, and we have legalized gay marriage.

Compare that to 100 years ago. 100 or so years ago in much of Europe, women were routinely brutalized and could not even get a divorce, or access to their kids if they wanted out of the beatings!; and usually would not be admitted to colleges, especially the sciences, and could not even vote here or in Great Briton and the gay relationships was a serious criminal offense. Just look at the history of how gays were brutalized. Today six of the seven G nations have legalized gay marriage with only Japan as the lone hold out and the women are working on that.

Talking about everyone getting along is a wonderful idea, but take a cold hard look history. The ruling powers never tried to get along with the peasants. The poor were brutalized by the rich for all of history and everywhere. It was not until democracy that the average person started having the power of manifest destiny. Just watch a bit of Downton Abbey as I said. And look at the feudal systems of Europe. They tortured the poor. That is what Charles Dickens was writing about.

Or take a single example of Hitler and the Nazi's, or kings or dictators. Sometimes people or empires must be overthrown.

Look at Trump and the Republicans, there is no negotiating with them and about 90% of Republicans still support him . We cannot reason with Trump supporters and they are a larger problem than Trump.

Obama tried getting along with the Republicans and they played him for a sucker, and they massacred him, along with the Democratic party which was left in shambles.

Sometimes people and societies must simply be defeated and that is where we are right now with Trump and the Republicans, IMO. .

It will take generations for the people to repair the damage the Republicans have wrought on this country over the last 50 years.

The good news is that I expect a blowout in 2020 as I have been saying for a long time. In just the last month people are starting to desert the Republican party, thank god and it is mostly women and older folks.

And as far as dumping certain issues so everyone can get along, the problem is that in many instances the two positions are diametrically opposed e.g. abortion for the right wing and the death penalty on the left wing.

how barbaric we humans where really until just about 50 years ago... People need to dwell on the fact we allowed people to have SLAVES just 150 years ago.

Human slavery and trafficking continues; fisherman, domestics, forced prostitution. Fueled by debt and manipulation, sometimes avoided through privilege.

The good news is that the women are studying those subjects, it seems, much more than the men, and maybe they will be our salvation?
In the world of human trafficking of women, sadly, women often play a big role as perps. Greed is not chromosome and/or testicle-specific. Neither is wisdom. it certainly is a social tragedy and waste when a qualified woman was/is unable to have an equal opportunity to make the difference and improve our lives impersonally. That is also to say I'm not so sure Ivanka or Melania would be better Presidents than Donald because they have vaginas.

I am hopeful that PEOPLE OF EVERY GENDER will wake-the-phuck-up and dump socialism vs, capitalism, faith vs. atheist, me/mine vs. you/yours, and other oversimplified status-quo dualities, for something relatively universally better for the most people all of the time. Lift and free everyone, not just a few. And that would include the health of the planet, by definition.
