So do we sit at home forever?

Till there's a vaccine, most of us keep social distancing to hold down the death toll. Wear masks - its not taking away your liberty. Lower capacity crowds in stores, etc. No crowded stadiums for any reason - games, concerts or a malignant narcissist's ego gratification.

Earlier generations of Americans did it. Heck, Washington enforced a curfew to protect his troops in Boston in 1775.

What the docs want is to flatten the curve, not stay home forever.

If it happens too fast our medical folks cannot deal with it.

It is that simple.

>> A few day ago I posted an interview with a MD director of infectious research and policy at some university and he calculates that 50% to 70% of the population needs to be infected to get herd immunity and that works out to 800,000 to 1.6 million deaths.

So, if we know how many deaths it will take (and I agree that we do, within reason), and everyone stays home, how do you ever get immunity? We have been told it will be another 16 months before there is a vaccine and everyone seems to agree that is optimistic. And it may never happen.

So do we sit at home forever?
