It is a nitwit idea. There is just no way to get significant UV deep enough into the lungs to make a difference in a symptomatic patient. The claim has been made that COVID-19 first infects high in the throat and move down. I have no idea if this is true and have problems seeing how that would work, but if true, then it is possible. You could use a fiber optic wand to illuminate those areas with UV. Depending on the wavelength of UV, sunburning those areas might be a problem, but I suppose killing the cells would kill the virus, so...

As to illuminating the alveoli with UV, that just isn't possible. The bronchial tubes are just too fine. Even if you made a fiber optic small enough, you would run an extreme risk of poking holes in delicate lung tissue. And there is still the issue of killing off a lot of tissue. It is sort of like touting TB as a cure for COVID-19...

Same thing at my local grocery. As I entered with my mask on, another guy was refused entry due to no mask. Anyone not in a mask is an asshole, since the masks mainly protect other people from yourself, if you are infected.
