First let me say that IBM is a stock I follow technically but do not trade now. These days I trade only stocks that I plan to acquire as investments along the line. Having said that, I often employ this strategy FWIW:

First bounce off the 200-day ema is usually reliable for strong stocks, after the bad news subside. Scalp it on the long side when buy volume returns. Second bounce off the 200-day ema is medium risk, often tradeable since institutions take time to distribute. Third or more rebounds off the 200-day ema ... only idiots take this risk.
