Scientist have already discovered that the SARS-COV-2 virus looks like it was engineered in the following way:

Most of this RNA virus is 98% identical to the Horseshoe Bat Corona Virus that was gathered in south China and brought to the Wuhan Lab.

The critical S1 spike protein is different, but it has also been discovered that the S1 protein is a 95% match for a Pangolin CoronaVirus, which AFAIK was also gathered and brought to the Wuhan Lab.

THis Virus also has an additional change
Only SARS-CoV-2 contains a potential cleavage site for furin protease.

So it does look like it was an experimental Virus developed at the Wuhan Lab that escaped after being created by human modification, taking parts of two different viruses and adding a furin site as well.
