The downtrendline that started on dec 31st. We're not talking about the today. And for that matter todays action broke the short term downtrend. Now can it hold todays gains or was it mostly short covering?

To expand on what Satyr pointed out, this is the trend line that is created by connecting the tops of daily charts from 12/31/97. The trendline I mentioned yesterday was the bottoms daily closes from late Aug. (which was an uptrend) and, in my opinion, was seriously violated yesterday! And then we have the upswing of today! Such is the fun of attempting TA. But then again, I'm no expert.
