Royalty rates.

Charlie, I'd love to know this too. For some reason it is top secret eyes-only information. The only guess I've ever seen is from Greg Geiling & Brantley Thompson (from JP Morgan). In a research report dated Sept 25, 1997 they say "we estimate that QUALCOMM receives a 3-4% royalty on all CDMA manufactured equipment."

I'm no businessman, but from what I've heard a 3-4% royalty is typical on exclusive licenses. On non-exclusive licenses, royalty rates are typically 0.5% or so. So QCOM is driving a hard bargain.
