Profits, Re: "AMD has put their best engineers in Fab25 to get the 0.25u process up and running ..." What have they done with their "worst" engineers ... Are they working on the .18um process and K7 ... or ... did AMD ask them to post on SI <ggg>. Make It So, Yousef

<AMD has had to battle with Intel since 1985 when they decided to abandon their 2nd source agreement with AMD. And when AMD won the right to compete in the courts, they were nearly 2 years behind Intel.> Profits, I think your perspective is a little skewed. A better description would be that Intel realized they were dragging around a deadbeat partner who was making many millions off Intel designs and giving nothing useful in return.In court AMD won the rights to use Intel designs and that was the last time they were profitable for anything more than a fleeting quarter. Left to their own resources, AMD has posted loss after loss. The future looks like more of the same. AMD had what amounted to an affirmitive action program. Once that stopped, well, you know the rest.... EP
