I haven't seen any evidence that herd immunity works with COVID. We hope it happens but we don't know. Most likely there are two viruses; one that kills and one that doesn't so the 'herd' might have the wrong virus. What we know for sure is that wearing masks works in every country that uses them. China's second wave came in mid-April and was about the same as the first wave (deaths per day) but they were able to stop it a lot faster this time. If herd immunity was working would the second wave have happened?
