5/15/2020 Contest update (Contest YTD is calculated from 1/3/2020 close.) Another crazy-making Covid-19 week. But as it’s been said: “Better six feet apart than six feet under.” Meanwhile, biotechs remain one of investors’ most favorite sectors. At Friday’s close, the Contest median was up 6.26% YTD (vs. up 1.51% YTD a week ago), the Nasdaq Biotech Index (NBI) was up 11.66% YTD (vs. up 8.56% YTD a week ago), the smaller-cap S&P Biotechnology Select Industry Index (SPSIBI) was up 9.74% YTD (vs. up 6.55% YTD a week ago), while the Nasdaq Composite Index (NCI) was down -.07% YTD (vs. up 1.11% YTD a week ago). Contest leader JBOG’s portfolio, up 92.06% YTD, continues to maintain a large lead. FILO’s portfolio, up 72.66% YTD, and IPOL’s portfolio, up 63.50% YTD, held on to second and third place. At Friday's close, 28 of the 42 Contest portfolios were in the green, with 15 still beating the NBI and 17 still beating the SPSIBI.
