I disagree. HP and SUN just want to see DEC disappear. They do not want a merger with DEC. They are head to head competitor and thus there are no synergy for merging. The increase in combine revenue for such a merger is minimal.

I have had a tough time trying to find another Computer company that may have the cash and the right match to merge with DEC. But today as I talk with other investors down at Schwab office, they did mention 1 other possible avenue. As Taiwan has Billions in US $dollar reserve, here is a good chance for them to buy a top Service / Enterprise Computer company for cheap.

That left me thinking that a corporate raider may buy DEC for cheap, and then split, spin-off, and sell DEC for a lot more.

Well then, who among us has about $3B in CASH and credit needed to pull this thing off?? :) Where is Carl Pickens (SP??) -- the famous corporate raider.???

Also, I ran into a post in Yahoo DEC thread that is very interesting:

messages.yahoo.com@m2.yahoo.com

The guy mentioned CPQ and DEC merger, and bought options just before
the announcement.
