Could someone please fill me and others in on what is up with ATML today? Down again! Here we sit under 16 dollars what gives? When I picked up some shares at 16 a short while ago, didnt think we would be here or below again! NASDAQ up almost 18 and here we move lower again! Frustrated...........rick

Doug, Atmel's existence is shaky, along with all small chip makers. They haven't been around long and a long period of losses could take them under. That being said, I really do think they will survive this downturn just as they survived the scare in 1991. But a tech co. is a lot like a shark. If it isn't moving forward, it is dying. And once losses start, especially when they took mgt. so much by surprise, we don't really know when they'll stop.

I am a bit cynical as I've been following small tech cos. since the 1960s. Only about one in every three I followed in the 1960s and 1970s is still alive today, and even fewer are alive independently.
If you have a great library, see if you can find back issues of Value Line from several decades ago and look at the names. Yes, IBM was there then and is here now, as are Hewlett and DEC (well, sort of -g-). But most of the names are gonzo. And the Value Line Survey covers larger stocks than I did. MB
