I hope you will use my link and look at the deaths per million by major geographical areas of the world.

Most startling is the huge difference between China and its neighboring countries and the largest western countries. The highest number of deaths per million in a group of 18 Asian countries I selected was 7 per million in the Philippines. From there, it goes down to zero. Japan is reporting only 5, then S. Korea, China and Singapore at only 3. The most amazing is Hong Kong, a city of 7.5 million, that is reporting only 4 deaths total from the virus. Not 4 deaths per million population, just 4 deaths.

To your point, though, this afternoon the CDC issued a statement claiming NY has overstated its virus deaths by 5000.
