Re <<2020 just happens to be an election year>>

amidst the hubbub I almost forgot ;0)

CoVid may or may not be a worthy virus, but as a political virus it is perfect, w/ its many manifestations of truths

- as bio-weapon it is a dud, but does give view of how it might be done correctly
- as counter-pandemic exercise good enough for dress-rehearsal
- as super bug it is not exactly that
- as benign it isn't
- folks would not exactly rush towards it
- folks not precisely terrified of it
- cost a lot of real money
- no cure for sure
- no vaccine for certain
- no end in sight

difficult for any politician to take an internally consistent position irrespective of political bent, for example ...

Flavour 1:
- the virus is deadly, China did it
- we locked down the country to counter deadly virus
- after China delayed letting us know how bad it is
- China knew it was bad, and shutdown the country, but late
- We knew they shutdown the country, but we did not follow, because we did not think it was bad
- However we did not screw up

Flavour 2:
- the virus is not deadly, and even if it is, do not justify shutting down the country
- China shutdown the country, we didn't have to follow
- but it is a bio weapon
- or a lame bio weapon
- or an accident
- but still, did not have to shut down the country
- and once shutdown, should not reopen to quickly
- because the virus is not that nasty
- and no, we dd not screw up
- China did

Flavour 3:
- ... etc etc etc

And then MSM on both sides using specific locale experiences to justify whatever position they champion ...

- S Korea, Taiwan, Sweden, HK, Singapore, Germany, Italy, Spain, India, Japan, Australia / NZ, etc etc etc

- but have to change chant as the location situations evolve, flair, re-flair, ...

- MSM appear to be ready to give up the ghost that is Singapore and S Korea, as relapse happening

- Taiwan held up

- India no one dares to predict

- Japan hardly mentioned, even as the Olympic Games cancelled

- Australia / NZ seems tame

But, a problem, that the virus is not done done.

Taiwan / Australia / NZ eventually must open their bubble tents, just as private individuals everywhere must eventually venture out and brave the invisible mist. A minor detail.

Vaccine? Cure?

Do not wait for it, and certainly do not plan based on such. They are not here until here.

But, the virus, is not bad unless nasty.

This is where we appear to be as far as I can tell.

I posted earlier.. a buddy of mine with a doctor cuz in South Carolina told him that many folks got slotted as Corona so they could get treated ... without a valid test (WHICH THEY COULD NOT AFFORD) .. (Not relegated to one state)So lots of flu etc may be in US stats.. maybe Canadian also.. as we weren't testing early on unless you were already on death's door...
