I've been using stochastics to trade 2 to 3 week terms successfully for the last month or so. See the charts at: lonestar.texas.net Hopefully they will be updated at 4:30pm CST today.

I propose changing the symbol of the Energy services index from OSX to SUX. Could stand for Substantially Underperforming or something like that.

Barry, I did a buy/write on MDCO about 2 weeks ago. Bought stock at 16.25 and wrote the Feb 17.5 options at 1 3/8. I think that's a 14% return for a month.

Barry: I've been trading the drillers so far in '98 with little luck, mainly because of over-caution on my part. Probably representative of many in this sector now; there is always the concern that the bottom is going to drop out again...at any time. This does not make for a very comfortable earning environment for those that are participating in the mass anxiety attack that has overcome the sector over the last 4 months. I don't really like to post all my transactions..due to the overabundance of posts here and my aversion to that most unfavorite of pies---humble All in cash now. I've traded about $600k of drillers so far this month..all day-trades & long transactions, and am down a few $s for the effort. Nothing too bad, and after coming out 25% ahead in '97 on the sector, this helps too.
