FONAR Physician Practice Management Subsidiary Announces New Acquisition

MELVILLE, N.Y.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Jan. 28, 1998--U.S. Health Management Corporation (HMC), a wholly-owned physician practice management (PPM) subsidiary of FONAR Corporation, announced today the acquisition of Central Health Care Services Management Company, LLC., a management service organization (MSO) and Tara Surgical Supply Corp., a durable medical equipment company. Both companies are located in Westchester County, New York.

Central Health Care provides medical practices with management services including third-party payer contracting, billing and collections, office space, marketing, and physician credentialing for seven medical practitioners in the lower Westchester County area. Tara Surgical Supply Corp. supplies durable medical equipment to multi-specialists in the New York metropolitan area.

The Company also announced that Mr. James Murphy has joined HMC as Director of MSO Operations. Mr. Murphy has successfully developed management service organizations (MSO's) for the past 6 years. According to Mr. Nick Canosa, HMC's executive director of business development, "I'm pleased to have a person with Jim's qualifications on board. He is experienced and has an excellent track record." Timothy Damadian, president and CEO of HMC, added, "Our formation of the management team and the Company's rate of growth are right in line with our business plan."

Mr. Damadian continued, "We are pleased that all the physicians associated with these two new acquisitions are of the highest caliber and are well respected in the medical community. It's a pleasure to be working with them. With the addition of these practitioners, the total number of HMC-managed physicians is now 22. We expect an accompanying increase in HMC annual revenues of approximately $1.5 million."
