Jim...Don't forget who's the customer.....and CPQ is the GIANT in that category. INTC shouldn't "mess" with CPQ, as the customer is always right.<g> I don't think that there is any way that these two will part company. At least, I'm not concerned. S.

PS - Why should Compaq display 'fealty' to a supplier? This is war (business), so just as Intel wants to vanquish AMD/Cyrix, don't you think Compaq would like to have alternate CPU suppliers??? Let's face it, Compaq has prospered with much stiffer competition and lower margins than Intel has faced over the last few years....

In case you have not noticed - Compaq is a giant now also. It would not be good for a giant like Intel to mess with an important customer.

intel has made pcs and they are making a net pc now.
cpq doesn't mind.
