"22 January - DNWire -- Microsoft is the only company in the computer industry that emphasises the weak points of its financial results. Announcing profits of $1.13 billion on revenues of $3.59 billion, Microsoft's CFO Greg Maffei pinpointed declining income from South East Asia as a sign that Microsoft's growth would soon be checked."

Here's an odd thought.

MicroSoft knows that PC saturation is nearing a plateau and that profits for software can't keep going up forever. They get the grand scheme to suddenly switch platforms.

Intel based PCs are suddenly on the back-burner. The Mac becomes their priority. Following them into the new market, hardware retail vendors follow Micrososft in selling to Mac users.

Die-hard Micrososft users wanting the latest MS Office 99 switch to the Mac because they can't wait 8 months for the PC version. Suddenly it's a market inversion that causes corporations and home users alike to buy new hardware and new software! The technology market suddenly is given a boost! They (MicroSoft) wait 15 years and switch again to PCs.

Could it happen?
