Times when Biden seemed to struggle with words during roundtable

The latest in a series of fumbles and misspeaks, former Vice President Joe Biden on Thursday rattled off incorrect statistic and at times seemed to struggle with words.

"We're in the middle of a pandemic that has cost us more than 85,000 jobs as of today,” he said at a COVID-19 roundtable with New Jersey Gov. Phil Murphy, Connecticut Gov. Ned Lamont, and Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer. “Lives of millions of people, millions of people, millions of jobs."

More than 36 million laid-off workers applied for unemployment benefits since the outbreak of the virus.

Instead, Biden appeared to switch up the unemployment figure with the nearly 86,000 who have died in the U.S. due to the coronavirus.

He also seemed to have problems articulating some points he was trying to make and at least once threw questions to "anyone" while what it appeared to be like searching for the names of the people in his roundtable.

Biden campaign manager Jen O’Malley Dillon spoke to reporters Friday and said that Biden's senior aides believe the president's growing unpopularity will win over voters in November. President Trump and his allies often describe Biden, 77, as senile.
