Not saying email doesn't have issues. But they're easily resolvable.

Most importantly, the lack of automatic/100% encryption makes it unworkable for some tasks. Although, likely, it is still as good as regular mail.

But for those circumstances where needed, there are excellent alternatives We actually still use faxes where secure point-to-point communications is needed, e.g., medical records.

We do need to re-think email in some ways. But as a value proposition, the USPS just cannot deliver anymore. What we're doing today is managing to keep some people in jobs that pay well enough no one really wants to give them up.

I use USPS mail to send bills to my customers, for no really good reason other than that's the way we've always done it. But if I told them tomorrow, "You're bill is going to start coming by email" they'd be fine. And some of them send us checks in return mail (some have credit cards on file), still for no reason other than they don't know there are better ways.

USPS is extremely convenient for us as we have a post office on the corner 3/10 mile from here. OTOH, the line is insufferable for inexplicable reasons. I will say USPS service is in the post office is good once you get to the front. They do act like they give a damn.

I just can't find value for it. But I appreciate there are occasional uses. My friend, who has a cell phone he was given, but to my knowledge has never used it, still uses mail.

I wonder whether younger generations won't abandon it altogether. More buildings to give Feinstein a billion dollars to get rid of.
