I've not heard that, and it really doesn't make sense given the half life of HCQ, unless the loading dose is continued for too long. I believe what is true is that there are certain cardiac conditions that can be exacerbated and even result in death from taking HCQ.

The fatal heart flaw actually exists to begin with, and there are many drugs that can exacerbate it, and it can kill you. It is the doctor's job to rule out the cardiac condition before-the-fact.
