Yeah, that'll work. Arguably, the biggest knock against Trump is that he hasn't been spreading enough FUD. He is upbeat when he ought to be shaking in his boots. Offsetting Trump's optimism (often over-optimism) is the reason you need a Fauci (Debbie Downer) around. It takes all kinds. I believe Trump's view is reasonable -- I don't see that this virus is a problem if people are reasonably careful. And the truth is the big problem was in NYC, where essentially HALF the nation's disaster was. That was because of inept handling of the crisis locally. Even the local people have agreed that Trump delivered everything he was asked to deliver to NYC. Add Michigan (where I can tell you irrational fear is rampant amongst Trump haters, as I have close family there) and a couple other states and you have the problem encapsulated in 10% of the country's states. Each with extreme leftist local government. Go figure. The point being there is no evidence that "Getting Out There" is problematic. The problem is people not being reasonable and living in a cesspool and all kinds of things. Not all places are the same. I can go out on the walking trail behind my house and walk for two miles to downtown, and never be close enough to one person to pose a threat to them. Yet, I should be ostracized for not wearing some kind of mask? OTOH, who in his right mind is going to get in the NYC subway or a NYC taxi? I wouldn't have on March 1. I wouldn't now. There are qualitative differences between, e.g., NYC and Houston which are responsible for the virus mess in NYC. It isn't just about population density, although that is undoubtedly a contributing factor.
