Channel 4 just did a repeat story about ADSL on the 6 pm news. Again, they showed the WSTL ATU-R.

This Consortium thing is just exposing that fact that there is still a long way to go before we see this DSL thing happen. WSTL was a dud today, I was hoping for a more impressive news release from them. I think we may be headed for a test of the 8 dollar support level.
Just go back and listen to the conference call now that you can ignore all the speculation of GREAT NEWS releases to come and you'll see WSTL is going no where this year. They say it themselves, nothing happening on the DSL front untill 1999 and even then they sound tenative. The only hope this company has now is to be bought out, period. There will be too many big players who will enter a with DSL modems and kill WSTL. Imagine a small start up trying to get into 56k modems now. DSL will be nothing but a card you install in a PC and everyone will be selling them!

Bill, Remember that at the NYC show (Fall/97) in the BA and GTE booths they ONLY had WSTL equipment set up. NOBODY ELSE! Nice to see 3 months later during this critical time of ADSL media acknowledgment, that the BA and GTE booths down in DC are still ONLY using WSTL equipment!
