Sullivan has taken on the role of judge prosecutor and executioner. As far as he is concerned the trial is over and now it is his job to extract punishment which he will inflict by keeping this going as long as possible. The process is the punishment,

The clearest example of the rule of men vs the rule of law to date.

The man is clearly unfit to be a judge.
