But a funny thing happened on the way to store shelves. AMD and Intel trimmed prices for their Socket 7 processors. The cost of memory fell further. And a hiccup in the supply of upcoming 200MHz and 233MHz MediaGX processors from Cyrix sealed it: Suddenly, the MediaGX is extinct in the very price point it helped create. Again.
