I'd say that AMZN is one of those unique examples of a Non-Profit company which stayed that way for several years. Bezos's plan was to acquire Market Share in the unique business model that he started off. And when you think of how he branched out from just books to the huge variety of products that AMZN now sells and delivers today that takes an enormous amount of capital to build the Infrastructure that is needed to store, sort and deliver from his, now, massive warehouses which are highly automated and filled with "robots".
